Default Mormon Emigrant Trail

Mormon Emigrant Trail is open, there was one spot that had snow on 1/3 of the road but its very drivable. Just keep a look out for some small rocks on the road. Cindy and I did this on Tuesday, great weather for this drive.

That is one of my favorite roads to take; it is also very convenient for reaching 395, Silver Lake (great campground BTW -not the big one on south side but smaller first come first serve across the road on north side) Caples, and Hope Valley.

Two years ago I returned home on that road just as it was starting to snow. By the time we reached Jenkins Lake the going was treacherous on DZIIs!

Oh, I bet it was. Not much of a snow tire, are they.

Mormon Emigrant is rather straight and boring. I f you want some fun look for the "North-South" road on the west side closer to 88. It will narrow and twist, amongst the trees . at the bottom is Pipi campground on a creek, after awhie you'll come out at OMO Ranch Rd . Take it to the right (to the left is Hwy88) . Omo Ranch is greate fun and scenic, it will eventually come out in Plymouth where you can go right to Placerville, left to Jackson, or thru to Rancho Murietta where I recommend you take a right athe end of town on Scott Rd for a thrill packed ride. But seldom are you on it alone. I have dozens of day trips in this area I will gladly share with anyone, hundreds and hundreds of miles.

I know some S owners that won't take North-South rd. I take mine almost anywhere. 11 Pines rd, Mosquito Ridge rd. Hell I've been on 100's of roads like those. You can't drive like a idiot or you'll be walking home but drive responsible the S can be driven just about anywhere.
