Default Radar detector

I think I might want to get a radar detector soon and I'm just curious which ones are actually worth having. Anybody have any reviews on one's you've owned or still own?

Valentines have the arrows to tell you where the warning is coming from (front, side, back). Saves me every other drive I take.

Ive had a escort 8500 for awhile, other than a few false laser alarms its still works well.

Ok thank you all for your feeback. I've actually seen the V1 in a Car and Driver magazine. It looks like an awesome radar detector. But you're saying that lidar can still usually get your speed despite having the V1?

Laser is instantaneous - once it hits you, you're dead. With the older X/LK band radar guns, the V1 detects the radar signals bouncing off of other cars or the radar wave itself from up to a mile or two away. Laser doesn't bounce everywhere, it's just a single stream of light that s hard to detect. So no bounce. Laser jammers can kinda help.

I have V1 and it's good, but it won't help if a cop/CHP is pacing you from far back at night. =(
