Air Compressor 5 Gallon for tires. Enough?
Sears has a 5 gallon Air compressor for 20 bucks. its a portable unit that i guess you take to the gas station to have them fill it up.
anywho.
you think 5 gallons is enough for a track day?
oh yeah plan to use it to adjust tire pressures at track. probably not just for my car too but maybe 2 other friends and what not.
thanks

I think thats more of a PIA than its worth. I have one of those mini air compressors that I got from my local Kragen that is rechargeable and you can plug it into your cig lighter as well.

its fine. tracks should have air available. so just fill it up in the morning and take it to the paddock with you.
you shouldnt be changing pressures too much throughout the day.

id rather get a foot pump than those weak 12v compressors.

those things are annoying. they are so loud and take forever. ive had one completely fail on me due to normal track use.

Those little 12V jobs are pieces of crap, IMO.
I used to use a bicycle pump until I bought a compressor. At the track
the bicycle pump would work in a pinch (though I'm only ever taking air
out at the track, and driving on flat tires on the way home )

I can't speak from experience regarding the use of the pumps at track day, but i have used the 12v tire pumps. I had one that my father bought and it didn't seem like it was extraordinary or anything, or even that well made. However, its been in my garage for as long as i know and still works. Well actually not anymore because the part that goes onto the valve stem wore down. I've never had a bad experience from them. The noise however, is annoying i admit.

CR comes with a tire pump that plugs into the lighter. Not the best, but it was free (i guess).
