Alpine Speed Stars Touge Map
Greetings!
Although still in it's early stages, I wanted to share something I have been working on for a little while. The Alpine Speed Stars Touge Map! I live in the Bay Area so at the moment the map focuses on the local mountains, but I would like to start expanding it to SoCal's canyons as well. Please post up in this thread or email the site admin to suggest new roads to add!
It is a simple implementation of Google's maps API with custom styling to make it easy to find interesting driving roads. Each route also includes tags about that particular road, including things like: -narrow, -wide, -lowgrip, -highgrip, -offcamber, etc. They also include numbered tags to indicate the types of corners you will come across, numbered from 1-6, with 1 being the least severe long radius corners that can be taken flat out, and 6 being the most severe short radius corners. (This is following simple stage rally pace note standards. I like this system because you can keep adding numbers if you have extremely severe corners).
(In this example I should also add, -blindcorners, -blindcrests, and -jump)
I would like to add many more routes and bits of info, so I thought I would ask everyone to help suggest new routes, and to include as much info as you can. Also if there are any other points of interest let me know! There are plenty of routes I already plan to add, but don't be afraid to suggest anything even the obvious ones that are currently missing.
Oh, and yes it works just fine on the iPhone!

The biggest and best AZ trip I would recommend listing is Wake the Devil on the suggested drives page:
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/922...es-in-arizona/
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/index.php...ttach_id=14870
Overall it's a 3 day 2 night trip, but the focus is really on the 2nd day drive, a looping run through all the topography/climate changes in the area, down US 180 and up US 191 (formerly nicknamed the Devil's Highway, Rte 666).

really every road in the santa monica mountains is worth driving. Its hard to define one best route because it all depends on where you are coming from and where you are going to.
My personal favorite route, i usually stop on PCH for lunch.

In Malibu: Stunt canyon to piuma out to malibu canyon up again to muholland. Take muholland all the way down to pch, or hang out up there and go through Decker...on and on and on. Don't forget about Latiago Canyon, lots of switchbacks. Best road in my car...a little intimidating on my bike, especially with the uneven road surface in spots.
And don't forget the holy grail ( if it's open ): Tuna! Nasty, dangerous, and one way!
One amazing spot that i never hear anyone talking about is the 33 north from Ojai. It's a little farther out of a starting point and quite the stretch of driving, but worth it. Head north on the 33 up to the split at Lockwood Valley ( i think ) and take that east back out to the 5 and then head south back into LA. Comes out a little above Santa Clarita. It's fun and an incredible area, but a little more of a commitment to do for most people depending on where you are ( like south oc for me ).
