Yep...these are real...
they had one just last week off Chino Hills PKWY right before Carbon Canyon in Chino Hills. Fortunately I drove right passed them. Looked like they were either on break or getting ready to pack it up.

Damn man! Well I have out of state plates, so I am sure I can get away with it. Do you know if these will no longer apply to 2000 and up cars starting 1/1/2013 with the new law passing about not having to do the test on the pipes?

Ran into one a couple months ago. They where letting people pass and as soon as they heard/saw my car they stood up and pointed me to pull over. They said it was a "random car" smog check point. I had straight pipe exhaust, no cat, non carb legal intake so I just convinced my self that I was screwed. So, when they told me to pull up onto the rollers, I just said "no need, I'm not gonna pass". They asked to pop my hood, asked about the illegal intake, recorded my license plate then said that it's my lucky day and I'm not due for the check. Then they let me go.
