Crazy California Fiat 500e Lease Deal Right Now

I've been in the market for a small daily driver and came across this the other day. I'd never normally consider a Fiat but I couldn't resist this pretty ridiculous deal. About five colleagues I work with jumped on it as well.

https://transportevolved.com/2015/03...-electric-car/

Needless to say, here it is. It's actually a lot nicer than I anticipated before I actually drove one.

You and about 6 other guys i know also picked up this Fiat.

dannythewonder 03-23-2015 03:16 AM

Been thinking about this Fiat since last night. Debating if I should get it and save up for something nice after this lease if I get it.

aprevo15 03-23-2015 07:24 AM

How much was due at signing?

Hero 03-23-2015 09:55 AM

The math in the original article makes things a bit clearer: http://www.greencarreports.com/news/...00-plus-bought

The $82/month price includes rolling the $2,500 cash back rebate into the payments for those that don't understand that.

I bought a 500e about 6 months ago with the sport package. at that time it was the best lease deal that i had seen out of anywhere...i worked hard on that one. This is similar numbers. If anyone is thinking about the car and it works for your lifestyle/driving habits, i would jump on this lease.

It is the best driving non-tesla car out there. Lots of fun. Almost 50/50 weight distribution and the extra battery weight is on the bottom of the car, so it's balanced really well. the instant torque and gearing make it the fastest car on the street in the city.

Is Fiat also still offering the $500/yr rental car credits? If you use it, that makes a big difference as well. I've already used $400 or so this year. Nice to be comp'd.

Jtanaka 03-23-2015 10:21 AM

Whats the insurance cost usually for one of these things?
I know it varies but guys who bought this, how much did your premium had to go up?

Trustd_1 03-23-2015 12:29 PM

seems like a nice enough deal, but the trim on the hybrid versions make the car look even more...

interested parties need to recognize that the ~ $8X per mo lease is only for those that qualify too. most might say that's pointing out the obvious, but not everyone understands that.

TheCarGuy2021 03-23-2015 01:39 PM

After tax/title/registration/fees I wound up out $3500 out of pocket for the down payment ($2500 will be refunded, so $1000 net once I get the check) and the monthly payments are $95 (I added the $500 sport package). It really is a nice driving car for what it is and it has some cool features. Throw in free charging at work, free parking in some cities (Hermosa, etc.), $500 a year towards a rental gasoline car (12 days a year supposedly), a HOV sticker, and this is a pretty awesome deal.

My insurance is through Ameriprise/Costco and my premium only went up 93 cents a month because this brought my multi-vehicle discount back.

Awesome. Thanks for the detailed information.

How's the interior space compared to the s2k?

Picturepro 03-23-2015 04:32 PM

nice what is the range?? is it a electric only? not familiar with fiat.

About 82 miles and all electric.

Terdburgler 03-23-2015 08:40 PM

My friend and I were shopping at the same time for full electrics. I was right about to buy a 500e the same night, but I guess they didn't want a sale. I went with the BMW i3, which is better for me since it's much quicker in a straight line, has a lot more space, and I love the interior.

Looks like the old Gulf color scheme

Do you still have the Grom? Or is this the replacement?

About 82 miles and all electric.

They are rated at 87 miles per charge but that doesn't factor in brake regeneration. Mine is at 86% charge this morning and it says I have an 87 mile range left so it's possible to do over 100 miles per charge.

This is a replacement for the Grom.

my commute is only 6 miles on a city street. I can get 100 miles pretty easily. If you were driving all freeway ( without heavy traffic ) i'd say you would get 65 - 70 miles. So there is a difference, but if the car ( or any electric car ) works for you, it's tough to beat!

im with wawanesa.. with a multi-car, good driver discount, etc.. just for adding the 500e, its around 950 for me full coverage.. the premium on my S would drop significantly though by about $450 (since I would be driving both cars).. so I would be paying about ~$1200/year to add the fiat and keep the S

Im going to take a look at one this week.

I also know a couple of people with reliability issues with their Fiats, but they have the Abarth... Since the issues were powertrain related, maybe the 500e won't have them?

March 31st is when the Fiat $2100 rebate expires. Good luck finding one left on a lot though, most dealers have been near cleared out but I think there are still a few left here and there.

At my workplace (<50 employees), there are 9 of them here now. There were 0 a week ago.

Yeah, that's a bit concerning but fortunately the warranty should cover everything through the lease. I'm already having my windshield replaced by Fiat as there was a small crack in it upon delivery.

i VieTEC 03-30-2015 09:17 PM

So $1000 down and $95 per month? Any tax added on to that $95 per month? What's the final number? Thanks

Yeah, I wouldn't buy one but I'm pretty happy with the lease terms for what I'm getting.

silverst0ner 04-08-2015 12:46 AM

Found out about this deal through word of mouth and picked one up! I'm more fond of the white, orange, blue. This color/model was the cheapest so I settled with this instead. Also did not like black. Anyone here commute to the City of Industry area for work?

A friend of friend did the lease 6 months ago for $95 and they got him for another $105 every month for a battery?
guess they changed the terms

DRKNEVL 04-13-2015 10:28 AM

I picked up the Orange 500E as a daily driver as well about 5 months ago. So fun to drive and no gas with instant torque... Yes please. The lease payment is less than I was spending in gas on my SUV.

MyEeek 04-13-2015 11:11 AM

I too would like to know if this deal is still going on.

And also, if anybody has any dealership/sales guy they can referral me to.

TheCarGuy2021 04-14-2015 06:48 AM

The deal is over, they are now around twice the price to lease.

Most likely the monthly lease price has increased, but the overall cost of ownership is probably about the same. I leased back in September. My monthly lease is $178. I put $1,500 down. That was for a sport as well. The overall cost between my lease and this special are only a couple hundred dollars off, so it's still a good deal for someone interested in the car, if you have some good negotiation skills. I think Fiat was also offering an extra $200 off that wasn't available when i bought too. That may or may not still be available, i don't know.

Bottom line is that if the trade offs of having an all electric car with 85 - 100 miles of range work for you, this car is worth looking into still, in my opinion.

I have a sport as well. I'm paying $97 a month and put $1000 down, or $4,492 total. Assuming a gas price of $3.50/gallon and I use all 30,000 my miles, compared to an ICE car getting 23 miles per gallon, this car is free (even including my insurance) and doesn't take into account maintenance on an ICE car.

The difference between your lease and this special is actually $3,416 over the lease term. Still a pretty good deal either way though!

Hero 04-27-2015 10:43 AM

Your previous post said you paid $3,500 out of pocket to get that lease price. I'm not referring to the CA rebate to offset that. Literally, just what the actual down payment was - out of your pocket at the dealership - to consider the overall costs of the car for 3 years.

I received the $2,500 rebate and $7,500 tax credit and the $1,500 in rental car credits and a few hundred in manufacturer rebates, just like everyone else. But it wouldn't make sense to say that I paid -$1,500 for a down payment at the dealership. That was the cost *after* i got the rebate back, but i still paid $1,500 out of pocket at the dealership to take the car home.

I paid less than you for a down payment and more per month, you paid more for down payment and less per month. For this deal, Fiat offered another $200 rebate as well that wasn't available when i bought. If you have the sport as well, then in the end, it's about an $800 difference over 3 years. Not bad. Bully for you and everyone else that bought on this lease special.

The point was simply that even though this lease special is over, a smart buyer could still take a lease similar to this deal if the consideration is only the total cost of ownership paid at the end of 3 years. You can make the math work a lot of different ways, and one shouldn't be discouraged by the expired lease special.

The rental car program is a use it or lose it type of deal. So if you can't rent $500/year, then you lose that value. But if you rent a lot like myself, then there's another $1,500 in your pocket over 3 years.

Add everything up in an apples to apples comparison, and the vehicle makes sense for lot of people still. Not everyone. But a lot.

TheCarGuy2021 04-27-2015 12:11 PM

Ah, I assumed your $1500 down was net, you did get a pretty good deal too! It's a $916 difference then. ;) Through the course of 3 years, minimal.

They are still doing the rental program (although they will continually say "this is the last week we're offering the program!"). It looks like the lease prices have gone up this month (shortage of availability?) as we were looking to get one for my SO two weeks ago and they were wanting ~$180 and $3500 down ($1000 net after rebate).

Your math is still off a bit. I think you are multiplying each month rate by 36 months instead of 35. First month should have been included in your down payment. So for me, it's $178 x 35 months.

I doubt the lease prices have increased this month because of lack of availability, probably more likely that the dealerships are riding the success of the lease special and just trying to pick up some extra profit. i would definitely advise against a lease price of $3,500 down and $180 a month, even if the rebates help. The "standard" lease price is $1000 down and $199 a month ( before taxes....most people get about $215 - $225 actual monthly cost ) I would say with a $1,500 down payment you should easily be able to get a $180 - $199 total monthly lease cost. I went through OC Fiat and had a good experience. I used a price quote that i got from Fiat in Ventura ( ? ) or something like that. I also think the fact that it was a second car helped the sale too...they could tell I wasn't interested in paying more than $180 and was more than willing to walk away, so they came to the table quickly. Reached an agreement, declined all "extra" coverage/protection they were offering, and was in and out in about 2 hours.

Tax/Title/Registration should all be included in your down payment too. With a little effort, you should probably be able to get a good deal for your gf, if still interested. i would wait till everyone cools down and forgets about the crazy lease special prices. Also, the 2016s will probably be out late July-ish too, so if you can wait a couple months, any remaining 2015s should be eager to be sold.
