Default McGard seat locks

I just got a set of these for my seats. They are about 1/2" longer than the OEM bolts, but since the holes are thru holes, all but one on the passenger seat will fit without shimming. I just used a slightly bigger nut to shim that one up.

^McGard #77751 (#77796 have wider head diameter and should work also)

^Installed

I didn't know if they were gonna work, but for $25 shipped for a set, I figured it was worth a try. Works out great. They don't come with washer, so just get a pack of each M8 flat washers and lock washers for $5 from Autozone for an OEM fitment. Installation was a little bit of a pain since all you have is that T-wrench to work with in such tight space. Hook the closed end of the wrench to get some leverage on those last turns, and they should be nicely tightened. Add some Locktite as extra measure.

Hopefully these will deter those damn thieves somewhat.

Doesn't McGard sell shorter ones? The ones I have are made by them. Old post, but look here.

I recently had my top slashed and nothing was stolen. They did go through my glove box tossing a $90 knife to the side. They didn't touch my Alpine IDA-305, 1000 watt amp, or JL sub and box. Makes me wonder if they were after the seats and looked through the glove box for key.

Someone gave me some for free a long while back.

I figure just put a tiny weld on one of them and you're good. Grind away if you need to unbolt. Or hell, just put two nuts on the bottom side of the car so someone couldn't unbolt them without jacking the car off the ground.

Hey Ldo which hole was the bolt too long for? Front or back on passenger side?

The one closest to the pass door. They are all for the front only. BTW your car looks exactly like mine, down to the side splitters.

Interesting. My concern would be with the small heads if the seats would hold in an accident.

Get the 77796 ones if you are worried about that. The heads are about 15 mm wide
