Default Selling my car to carmax

I am planning to buy the new M3 and there are a couple of them at the dealers selling for MSRP and no mark up. I don't want to trade in my S so Im thinking to sell it to Carmax. Has anyone sold a car to Carmax? My S is an 05 with less than 17k miles. How much more should I be able to get selling it to Carmax instead of trading it in? Kelley blue book says that my car is worth 19.5k only. I am hoping to get at least 21k for it.

Expect 1K to 2K back of blue book from Carmax unless your ride is IMMACULATE. Market is soft for S2000's right now.

You mean that I am better off trading it in?

Unfortunately, neither. Private party is your best bet. Unless you don't want to deal with the head ache of selling to the general public. To me, taking the 1-2K loss is worth it.

the amount you get for trading it in is almost similar to the price carmax will buy it for.

I think it wouldn't hurt to still check out what they appraise my car for since I'm looking to sell or trade my DD.

My local dealership sent me a flyer saying they want to by my s2k (they're looking for used inventory). Try a honda dealerhsip.

I should have sent them pics of it and asked if they still wanted it
