Slipper Clutch For Cars
I know you were hoping I found one right?
I'm just surprised not to see one for cars still. In streetbikes a slipper clutch is SOO INCREDIBLY NICE to have, I'm curious about using one in a car. I haven't heard much of it. I see some drawbacks to it but for track use I see way more positives then negatives. -Greg Thoughts? |

what does it do?

So you know when you shift gears in a corner and you don't rev match perfect you feel the wheels pull the engine to the right speed when you let it out. You can tell it upsets the car in a corner when your driving hard.... well it lets it slip up to the proper RPM and makes it smooth. Basically it eliminates the need to rev-match on a downshift. It's AMAZING on a bike to have it. My lap times instantly drop because it's one less thing to do and think about. It also tends to make you shift when you SHOULD not just when your safely able to since you dont fear the upset in a corner.

Can't say I've ever wanted one in my S's, even racing them. I think the sport bikes --
1) rev so high 2) with high compression 3) and the loss of traction is more dangerous than in a car |
we do have one...it's called the CDV :)

yes ...sadly it works for slipping UP the RPMS too..... :banghead:
when i first got the s2k i thought i was going to hate the CDV on the track, but i've gotten used to changing my shfit timing on the straights so my clutch doesn't slip. i'm one of the few believers in the CDV. anyways...back on topic...yes a slipper clutch would be awesome! i've had 2 bikes and always wondered why cars can't have the "up-down" shift pattern as OEM like a bike does instead of our "H" pattern shift. |
