Socal Wheel Refinishing (AP2v2)
I've been searching for a place to refinish my stock ap2v2 wheels. When I bought my s2000 it came with the stock wheels, but they were "powder coated" black with a red lip. I doubt they were powder coated, because of the way the color is coming off the wheel more like a vinyl, kind of hard to explain. Anyways, I've been looking for a place to refinish the wheels but I can't find any. All the post I've found are a couple years old. I've contacted wheelflip in Santa Fe (excellent customer service), and they told me its a machine finish and they don't offer that. Anyone know of a shop that car put my wheels back to their original glory? Thanks!

There was a guy where I live that does it friend of a friend. The cost was high lots of work. Mine had just clear coat on. Yours with paint may be even more. May be cheaper just finding used ones for sale. He spun the rim and sanded then buffed he did not clear coat. He just said to keep them clean and waxed.
You may be able to do it yourself. Try removing material with paint remover. Do small area first as sample. The clear coat will most likely be lost.
I was thinking of doing this to my rims just a refinish lose clear coat and just keep wax on them. Aluminum can be sanded and buffed out to a mirror finish. You will not get factory finish with radial marks it would look like a mirror polished finish. Lots of work anyone doing this would charge at least 100.00 per rim. To make it look factory with clear coat much more.
Good luck I would just find another set for sale. Then take the tires off the ones you have and sandblast if paint remover fails then hand sand and buff DIY. Once down to aluminum and buffed mothers makes a good aluminum cleaner wax. You could DIY.

Look up new year wheel repair in Santa Ana. It's a friends shop, ask for beto and say Hugo sent you. They do really great work and he will give you a good price too. He just stripped a set of powder coated wheels for a friend and left them in a polished finish

Been going to Al Reeds Wheel Polishing in Anaheim for 30 yrs. He's the oldest wheel refinishing business in SoCal.
Vintage Porsche owners send him wheels from all over the country. His prices are reasonable as well.
