Soft top installation in greater L.A. area

I have a MY 2000 s2000 with a pretty destroyed top, rear plastic is yellow. I am ordering a new top this week from "topsonline.com" and was looking for any recommendations. I am going with the EZ ON Brand Top with glass window, the vinyl version. I am near the La Verne/Pomona/San dimas area, but dont mind driving for good work/price. Found a place called "lou's top shop" in Pomona, but they don't have any Yelp! reviews, and help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you..

I never tried them but they have excellent Yelp reviews.

Hope this helps.

I'm certain I've seen this question come up before (and within the last 6 months). Have you searched the forum already?

It has, but it inevitably turns into a "your better off just buying the frame and top used from someone" flame thread, which to me is very stupid because any used top is just that much closer to getting ripped. I found a place in Pomona call USA upholstery in Pomona that is doing the top install for 350$. Seems reasonable enough to me. 800$ all in for a new top with glass rear window, shipping, tax and install.

Where did you get your soft top with glass rear window from?

Interesting. I hadn't noticed the threads all going that way.

I would have looked at this thread for recommendations of upholstery/top install/repair shops:
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/979...#entry22358761

Or in this one for referrals:
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/845...acks-services/

Or, like I mentioned, Yelp is very good for finding good service providers. How did your install end up coming out? All good? If good, consider writing a review to add to the feedback thread above to help others seeking the same info.

I'm sure there are some good threads, but I only looked through 2-3 and didn't find many local to me. I did not have the top installed yet, I wanted to get an install quote prior to purchasing.

And yes, it was tops online. I think there were some slightly better deals on ebay (when you factor in shipping) for the robbins and eazy-on, but it was only a 10$ difference or so and tops online seems to be highly reputable.

I will definitely post pictures up when the install is completed. I haven't received the top in the mail yet, hopefully it's done by next saturday. I've gone through several other issues with my s2000 (check my other threads) and finally seemed to have gotten rid of my last cel (purge canister valve was removed by previous owner, I think he was running a standalone ecu, and PITA p0411 that seemed to have no real corporate), top and paint are the last items on the list for now. But I'll definitely let people know how it goes. I went to a place called Jose's top repair in Pomona, and he referred me to USA upholstery. Got the quote in 1 minute with no BS and no haggling, so far so good. I'll do a write up. I owe it to s2ki, Bilman really went above and beyond to help me get through this build through private messages for free. Great guy.

Thank you.

We do soft top installs, swaps and replacements more than anyone else I'm sure. We just did one Thursday.

You don't want to take it to an upholstery shop unless they have experience specifically with the s2000. There are a lot of parts that can break if removed wrong. Expensive hard to replace stuff.

The s2000 isn't as simple as a Miata or most convertibles I've had experie with.

Please message with questions.
