also, where do you order the LE duolec stuff? i don't see it on amazon. i was just going to get redline 75w110 until i saw this LE stuff getting mentioned on multiple threads. what is the reasoning going higher weight (75w140)?
Oh to your other point, most of this stuff is not on Amazon, and if it is, its way, way over priced. Crush washers - best from dealer. WAY over priced on eBay / Amazon. Oil - direct from manufacturer. The only thing I saw for reasonable prices on Amazon was oil filters and air cabin filters (and obviously tools if you like supporting the Chinese economy)

brake fluid should be done every 2 years, not 10 years.

also, regarding getting 2 full quarts in your tranny, that's overfilled.

was your car inclines or declined? it should be flat when filling.

maybe you didn't drain all of the old fluid out completely somehow.

i would get your car flat and get the excess fluid out.

if you're not shifting buttery smooth with new fluid, something is amiss.

the car was on level ground on jack stands. I Removed both bolts and allowed the tranny to drain until nothing was left. Re torqued the drain bolt and pumped in new fluid. Started overflowing at just about the end of the second quart. Allowed car to sit with fill bolt off so that excess could completely drain. Retorqued fill bolt - went for drive. All seemed fine.

Shifts are inconsistent in that sometimes they are buttery-Honda-esque, wchile other times more notchy. Before I bought my current 6-speed accord I thought that notchy inconsistent transmissions/shifts were the norm.

Which owner's manual states 9 years for brake fluid?! I see "ever 3 years independent of mileage" in the 2005 manual, the one I use for my '06 since I have the Maintenance Minder in my car and nothing in that owner's manual. 2002 manual states 3 years as well.

Edited: The link shows brake fluid changes at 3, 6, 9 year intervals. Independent of mileage.

I've always done every two years because that's what my other manuals say for other cars. For this one, I saw 9 years so never did it. So I guess we're both wrong and it's every 3

The earlier linked maintenance thread indeed shows brake fluid change at 9 years on the last line. It also appears earlier in the list every three years. Speed reading bites me often too! Owners manual, though, has no such problems other than my '06 with the Maintenance Minder with no intervals in the manual (so I have a copy of the 2005 as well for reference). Brake fluid was changed in July 2014 when the power brake booster recall was performed (everyone done this?) so I'll see if the MM says something about it this summer. I have fresh cans of genuine Honda brake fluid (and coolant for when that appears). Engine, gearbox, and differential oil changes have become routine. I can hardly wait to bleed brakes and clutch. And get bubbles out of the cooling system.

The Maintenance Minder reminded me to change the oil at the end of last season well before the 7500 mile interval, probably around 6500. So it does seem to be somewhat "smart."

Yea, this seems reasonable. Because I only have a 6 month driving season, I do 1 oil/diff/tranny change a year, (going forward) brake fluid every other year , the car is 10 years old this year so coolant and clutch fluid this year. Brakes / rotors replaced as necessary

I'm not a mechanic so other than the tasks listed above I bring it to a garage.
