$40-50k Ferraris
 

I always want to own a Ferrari, but I know I can never afford a $100+ car like most people in the world

Have anyone ever consider to buy a used Ferraris?
308GTSi? 328GTB? even 348TB and Testarossa?

I heard that for 40k-50k you can buy a 308 or even a 328

certainly the S2000 perform better than most old ferraris

I know for the money that are many great new cars to choose and maintenance is a problem.
but still you have own a Ferrari.

You might want to ask the folks at www.ferrarichat.com about it. I'm sure they'd give you all sorts of reason why you should do it, given they're Ferrari owners.

Wouldn't interest me, however. I haven't done any research on the subject, but my uninformed opinion is that you'd be spending $50k on a car that would drain you of half its sale price in maint each year if you drove it more than 1000k miles/year.

Not worth it.

I owned a '88 328 gtsiqv, and I can tell you it was for the most part kinda junk. It wasn't very fast, the tranny had to warm up for 20 minutes to get into reverse, and it was a real hassle, and expense for the simplest of repairs, or oil changes.

That being said, I've never owned anything sexier. Mine was black, and I would just start drooling when I walked up to it.

I hate to say it, but the S2K is a better car in every way.

The 355 on the other hand :) Well We're all gonna have to wait a few more years for that one!

that 328 is drop dead gorgeous.....

but do not buy one unless you are sure that you have the money to keep it on the road.... you will lose money BIG TIME, if you end up selling it not running because you can't afford to get something fixed..... :(

i kinda of like the 348 spyder..
i just dig those fins on the sides..

My neighbor has a 348, which is gorgeous and still looks almost good as new.

Driving it, however, was somewhat disappointing. Power/acceleration seemed roughly comparable to my S2000, but lots of other aspects compared unfavorably:

- very hard just to get in and out of. If you've ever sat in a C4 Corvette, this car makes a C4 look easy. Maybe if I was 6" shorter, in my teens, and a gymnast.
- seat belts buckle on the inside....weird and more difficult to use
- clutch, brakes, and steering all take lots of effort
- the gated shifter isn't nearly as good as the S2000's. I was really paranoid about missing a shift and causing who knows how much $ damage.
- he's had a couple of mechanical problems in the short time he had it, incl. a new radiator cap that led to ~$3K in damage

I still drool everytime I see it, but driving it confirmed to me that the S2000 is a much better real world option. If that kind of money was burning a hole in my pocket for something like that, I'd opt for an NSX instead. Now if I could only afford a 360, that's a different story!

Ditto. For $50K, I'd get a used NSX or a new Z06. However, I do see the appeal.
I love the 308 (Magnum car) and the the even better 328.

I oneday hope to own a 355, they are gorgeous. The maintanance part is a problem, they are very expensive to repair. There is a guy near my house who has a yellow 355 convertible....the thing sounds awsome when he gets on it.

348- $50,000-65,000-
Testarossa- $80,000-
355- $100,000-125,000

As for me, I'm not ready for a Ferrari just yet. It will come in the future. My mind and my body is not prepared to own such cars. Plus I have to own a Porsche before the Ferrari. My next car is a 96' C4S or Turbo. After that, then I'll be ready for the Ferrari. A 355ts or 360 Modena coupe.:cool: :cool:
