Holy shit, that's an excellent time for a S52.

...I'm just not sure how accurate that is though.

If it makes you feel any better (or worse)
I got a 7.8 0-60 time with my stock 1991 civic SI that's only supposed to get between 8.4-8.9 0-60 times.

Gtech's are cool but aren't the worlds most accurate devices in my experience with them.

the old gtechs had problems with accuracy if the unit wasnt mounted or calibrated perfectly. The gtech pro is supposed to have fixed those problems. Now, I have no personal experience with the products, but I would suspect that the time on the BMW was a lot more accurate than the one on the SI (which I presume was made on the old gtech). This is not meant to be a criticism of either of your driving skills, I'm just saying that there is a serious possibility for error.

However, the time on the BMW does seem closer to S54 times- a little low for an s52

I calibrated best I could...

The gtech manual actually says to take the average a couple runs, throwing out the high #'s.
I guess when you take the average, you throw out the results that are a bit high/low.

Here are some times I recently scored in the car without a passenger and good launches:

4.86 (1/6/04)
5.3X (1/6/04)
5.03 (12/20/03)
5.11 (12/20/03)
5.12 (12/20/03)

Which averages to 5.08...
Which then puts me at the expected 0-60 times the car has been known to pull (5.1 second 0-60 MPH).

Not saying I can pull the 0-60 times magazine's pull, but there are some factors that may help a bit:

I'm a small guy (weighing 130 lb.)
sparo milano seats (-25 lb. each)
unorthodox underdrive pulley
dinan stage II
kuhmo MX 255/40/17 in rear (stock is 245/40/17)
The car has good stock dyno numbers (S2000's that day put down ~ 200 HP):
