We had a 1970 911 T with the whale tail on it. We got the car for a short period of time as some guy owed us money and we got the car from him instead. Our main concern was to get our money back so we ended up selling it to recover our money. I now wish that we kept it but it wasn't meant to be, and we did not intend on owning it for a long time.

I remember thinking the car wasn't as fast as I had expected with it being a "Porsche" . I loved the sound of the car from the interior, the mechanical sounds were amazing, first time I had ever heard an engine behind my head. It really sounded amazing. I liked the car at the time but I didn't love it. I was rather young though, right around 16 years old at the time so I probably didn't appreciate it as much as I should have. It was a really cool car and I can still hear the sound that I loved so much about it. That video brings back good memories.

They must've added the tail, T definitively shouldn't have had that. Early cars weren't fast, think those had around 120hp or so.

yes the other party added the whale tale, I actually did not like the look of it.

I almost bought a 73.5 911t awhile back, I felt the same way about the power, I liked the driving experience overall but would of liked more power. It was a good no stories car and I was second in line to buy, the first person to buy it was waiting for a loan so the owner promised to hold it for him and the guy ended up getting the loan.

I think with all the recency bias with the air cooled Porsches with all the influencers just talking ad nauseum about loving the raw experience of these cars, we tend to forget that these at one point were somewhat throw away cars because no one wanted them. The smooth bodied 70s and 80s Porsches were under powered, loud, small, and when something broke, expensive. And frankly, people generally thought they were ugly.

It's kinda hilarious that even now, the E46 M3 is one of those cars that people are now seeking out, and I remember a buddy selling his for under 10k (granted it was an SMG with a ton of miles on it) almost two decades ago now.

The 993 though has been one of my bucket list cars since forever, but at these prices it's absolutely ridiculous.

If driving experience is that important, a first gen Boxster with a header will give you a better experience, but it doesn't have the cool factor like driving an old 911 currently has.

A friend of a friend has a 997.2 GT3. That thing is a rocket.

Very true, I listened to people say my S2000 had ‘no soul’ when it was new and relatively new and now all of a sudden the same people gush over it and I feel like saying it’s the same car or more appropriately I feel like saying why don’t you go out and drive a car before you express an opinion on the driving experience, think for yourself don’t go just by what you read somewhat else write.
I have always wanted a 911, 964’s and 993’s were always at the top of my list but the prices they bring now are just more than I want to spend on a fun car.

This is one of the biggest problems with options on the Net. On just about every subject.

Didn't you just do that in the usefulness thread?

Yep, you sure did.
