1st Gen (97-99) Acura CL 3.0
 

I'm looking to get an 97 or 98 Acura CL for my girlfriend. Unfortunately I don't know anybody who owned one so I can't get a first hand opinion on it. Anyone of you guys drove one or owned one, please give me your opinion on it. Thanks in advance.

What do you want to know about it?
I had a 97 2.2CL (the V6 wasn't available when I bought mine).

The ride was very comfortable, not too quick though. If you have some questions, just state them and i will try to address them.

Hey thanks DVDoughboy for replying. Basically I'm looking for whether the car is worth buying. Is it reliable and comfortable? Does it have any major problem that I should be worrying about?

How long did you have yours, DV? and what made you sold it? Tell me some things you like about the CL and things you dont. And again I really appreciate this.

I bought the car when it first came out 1996. I got the 5 speed manual version with the premium package. There were only 2 versions (with or without the premium package).
I had it for four years and then sold it before I went to Korea. I was going to work there for a year.
it was a solid car. I never had anything major happen to it and no major defects either.
I will say that if you do get one, get the 3.0 V6. That only comes in automatic though.

When I sold the car, i sold it for $10k back in December of 2000.

It's been a while so I can't really remember the bad things or the really good things. I loved the automatic climate control. The only thing I can remember is that the Acura dealership I got it serviced at was pretty good as far as their service went. No negatives that I can recall.

my wife drove a 97 3.0 (6 cyl.) on a 3 year lease. She absolutely loved it and hated to get rid of it. Solid car never a problem, great reliable motor and heated seats :)

Thanks for the help guys, it was very helpful. So basically it only have one option, the premium package, right? The package includes everything from leather seat, heated seats, auto climate, etc.??
