4 seater Miata...
If anyone watches the show Scrubs maybe they caught this... I don't know their names so just bare with me. It went something like this:
Guy: "So how about our date tonight"?
Girl: "The last date I went on was in 10th grade, but my boyfriend made me sit in the back seat of his Miata because his friend wanted to ride shot gun."
Stupid I know, but still.
Don't you think someone would have caught it before they aired the show?

I saw that episode too but when I heard it, I saw it more as a joke. It was to highlight how important she was to her boyfriend, chosing his friend over her, and forcing her to sit in a backseat that doesn't exist but she thinks it does.
I'm sure if they wanted to make it a convertible joke with a backseat, they wouldn't have chosen a Miata.

I would use that line myself. Sending someone into the "back seat" of a car that didn't have one (ie, the trunk) is the ultimate low in status. I'm sure it was a "play" on words.

. Now I feel stupid

thats good stuff, I refuse to believe that no one caught that before they filmed the scene.
