Default 5 Series BMW! :)

K guys, I have come to my 2nd/3rd Option behind the Range Rover sport...the 5 series..anyone have any experience with this car?

Main difference between a 2006, 07, and 08 5 series? Thinking of a 530i even though I have no idea what the difference is besides the HP/TQ.

thanks!

Picked up this 2009 535i recently. Pretty good car. My wife didn't want the sport package which I believe was a mistake. Car is pretty fast, thought it does have turbolag off the line.

One thing that bothers me is how some of the features of the car are different just to be different, like the turn signals, cruise control, the auto tranny stick control etc.

My wife loves it. Me not so much. I'd much rather have a 335i. I like smaller cars better though.

A 5er not much bigger than a 3er sedan. They are within 140lbs of each other.
Haven't been in a newer 3, but my mother in law has a 2006 3 series sedan and it's much smaller tigher feeling than the 5. Maybe it's just me.

I actually the size of the s2000 was just right though.

I have an 08 535i and have been happy with it - though it hasn't been problem free. Try to swing an 08 or newer as it has a number of updates that might be worthwhile - most notably the N54 motor (twin turbo I6 300 hp), Sport Auto Transmission, updated (slightly less funky) interior.

Make sure you get a CPO if you go with the 535i for the warranty - there were some issues with the high pressure fuel pump and injectors that never really got sorted out. I've had my high pressure fuel pump and two injectors replaced under warranty.

Sports package is 18" wheels, staggered tires, sports/comfort seats, sports steering wheel, and active roll stabilization...
