Any 2006 civic owners here..?

lookin for a new car...

its gotta be something small..

either corolla or civic...

one or the other...

i know corolla is cheaper and a bit more reliable...

what do you guys think?

does the 5spd auto vs the 4spd auto on corolla make any difference?

Wait a couple of weeks and go look at the '07 Honda Fit...*G*

I went to go pickup the little brochure and just got done reading it from front to back... the Fit Sport has cute little paddle type paddles *LOL* on the steering wheel...

and then go see Matt Piercey (Pierceman) and hound him for one till you shake one loose...

 I hear you on the paddle shifters! I also read "It has class leading power" with about 109 hp :D . That's actually not bad considering that it is actually below a civic. I hope it puts a spankin' on the Xb.

have him check out the mazda 3 before he decides. i'd personally choose the mazda 3 over the civic or corolla.

I have an 06 Civic. I've had it for 3 months & like it. I used to have a Corolla before the Civic. I didn't like the seat position in the Corolla, I was never comfortable. You can adjust the steering wheel in & out in the Civic. The Corolla had a manual 5spd & I got 39 with it. The Civic has an automatic & I can get 39 with it also.

I have an '06 Si and I love it. I bought it as a daily driver and I'm finding that I'm using it every chance that I get. Since buying it in January my S has gotten less than 100 miles.

At first I wasn't sure that I'd like the two level instrument panel, but I love it. I love the way the car feels and drives.

This is our third Civic. My wife drives an '05 Sedan and my 18 year old son drives an '05 Coupe. We are all very happy with our Civics.

I sell Hondas, and my neighbor sells Toyotas. We always have debates between the Civic and the Corolla, the Pilot and the Highlander, the Accord and the Camry, and much more.

Honestly, Toyotas are cheap. Compare the fit and finish on a Honda vs a Toyota, you would notice that they use cheaper material. But of course, Corollas are much less expensive than a Civic. A Civic DX 4dr auto costs $15,900, whereas a stripped down model of the Corolla is around $13k.

However, the Civic has all the safety features standard; ABS, EBD, disk brakes in the front, front airbags, side airbags, side curtain airbags, rollover sensors, occupant detection sensors, etc etc etc and much more.

You can get the stripped down Corolla without side/side curtain airbags, no ABS.. they don't even have EBD offered as an option, and definitely no rollover sensors or occupant detection sensors.

As for the question about Civic 5AT vs Corolla 4AT, it does make a difference. It can stay in the powerband more often, especially with the IVTEC technology offered on the Civic.

Cliffontes: If you want a cheap, reliable car - get a Corolla. If you want something that's SAFE and reliable, then get a Civic. What's more important to you? Safety and engineering, or cost? They didn't make the 06 Civic "Car of the Year" for nothing. :)
