Anyone trust and ebay turbo kit yet? haha
just thought i would raise the question cuz i see 400 + hp turbo kits for the s2000 all over ebay...ebay is always to good to be true.
The kit maybe, but not the turbo itself....
hmm i would think the manifold would crack befor the turbo gave way
I know a couple of guys i work with bought their turbo's off ebay, replaced the seals/bearings and then they are good to go with a turbo that was essentially half off. Thats all ive heard of, inferior seals/bearings.
im talking like full blown turbo kits not just the turbo...like intercooler manifold all replacement lines everything...accept the EMS of course
why don't yea give it a try and report back?
this is very true... i just might, just wanted to see if anyone here had some success to share
i tried my luck with an ebay turbo (not the kit, just the turbo itself). the turbo ran for all of 10 minutes while i was tuning the car before the bearings went.
FYI, most of these ebay turbo's use parts that failed the quality tests from the larger manufacturers (Garrett/Holset/BW/etc..) so running one will be hit or miss. i wouldnt waste my time. |
Ebay $50 intake with reputable filter, yes. Ebay $2000 turbo kit, no.
