Ariel Honda Atom
-> We can still get the [EP] CTR motor as an option here in the US, but you have to ask before you get one. Screw Ecotec in my opinion. Actually instead of the [EP] CTR motor, why not the newer [FD] CTR K20Z? Better torque, better hp, better overall.
Actually, Brammo is transferring the Atom to another company for production. The one you're referring to, the Atom 2 (Mk2) built in the US mostly had Ecotecs except for 10 selected Atoms which got a modified 245-hp K20 from the Civic Type-R from Spoon Sports Europe. At the time, Honda (America) would not supply motors for the Brammo Ariel Atoms, hence their contract with GM for the Ecotec motors. Not all are happy with the supercharged 300-hp Ecotecs as many owners had difficulty trying to extract more power from the Ecotecs. The lucky few with the K20 motor (from Spoon or grey-market from UK Ariel) have been able to extract more power with the Rotrex superchargers.
The upcoming Atom 3 built in the US under a new company (forgot who) will have K20 motors directly supplied from Honda (finally wised-up) and will have an increase in HP as well (forgot how much). This is the one to watch out for
