It looks subtle but I'd rather have an M5 IMO. Isn't that the Lambo V10 only detuned?

I think this is going to hit a sweet spot. The M5 is the more sporting car. Some might say if you want sporting get a small light car (like a 911S) if you're going '2-tons plus' might as well get the extra room and comfort of a 'big' sedan.

I have been facinated with the top-top sedans. I mean the V12s from BMW, MB, and Audi. But they've been (IMO) over priced and over weight. I think they are in the 4700 lb to 4900 (760i) lb area and price at around $120K. I mean 40K more than the V8s seems a lot to me. The V10 audi seems to split the V8 and W12 down the middle for price $80K(V8) $100K(V10) and $120K(W12). But the fact is the V10 is about as strong as the W12 and weighs 300-400 lbs less (so it's gonna scoot).

From the Autoweek article they have the S8 at 4300 lbs. That's less than the 750i (V8) and just 300 lbs more than the M5.

The Audi V10 weighs 45 lbs less than the M5 engine. And while the Audi puts out 50 less HP than the BMW, it puts out more TQ. and has a lower peak TQ.

BMW V10 500-hp@7750 rpm 383-TQ@6100 rpm
Audi V10 450-hp@7,000 rpm t 398-TQ @3500 rpm (with 90% of that on tap at just 2,300 rpm)

Now I'm not trying ot claim the V10 in the Audi is better than the Bimmer or that the S8 is a better car than the M5, but the M5 is peaky (like the S2000) and the Audi while having about the same TQ (probably) has more down low, and will feel fairly quick considering it's weight just 300 lbs more than the M5.

(Est.) S8 to be about half a sec slower to 60 mph than the M5.

This might be a pipe dream, but I'm really liking the S8 a lot. And you can get a fricken 1000 watt B&O stereo.

The Audi is larger and has more TQ at a much lower rpm and has FSI.

I'm not an Audi fan by any means (despite having ordered two S4's and then pulled out for various reasons) -- but they always seem to pull off a great interior.

That's a fantastic looking automobile. I've been of the opinion for some time now the Audi "8" series of cars are the best in their class. Seeing these pictures really hits it home. I can't wait to see this thing when it comes out.

I love my B6 S4. If I needed a big sedan I'd definitely look at the S8 (or look for a nice used RS6)

I love the new S8, heck, I loved the old one...but the goodies around the corner at the AMG lab have my name written all over them 6.2 liter "63 series" V8 w/500+ hp and 460lb.ft. of torque, and not to mention the uberkiller "65 series"
