Is 335i substantially better handling wise than 330i? I test drove a 330i ZHP and i wasn't all that impressed.

Seems like this may not be in the same league, but the SI sedan is quite good... but seems to be outclassed by the cars mentioned on this thread.

I have a family situation and I am considering getting something family friendly (i.e. 4-door) to replace S2000 as a daily driver. Two primary considerations are acceleration/handling and gas mileage. There is a bunch of sport cars that do better than 25 mpg freeway, but I'm having trouble finding anything that handles as well.

Is it possible to get the kind of handling, suspension and road feel of S2000 in a fuel efficient stock 4-door sedan / wagon / hatchback?
More info, please?

1. Price range
2. New or used
3. Climate (RWD or AWD)

I'm hoping to spend less than 30k. New or used '03+. I live in California.

Any opinions on Acura TL?

1) EVO (price/perf/room)
2) WRX or STI (idem, fuel cons less good due to boxer imo)
3) A4 Quattro (too expensive?)
4) 325i or 330i (idem?)
5) Volvo AWD...

I agree with the EVO/ STI suggestions. The Mazdaspeed 3 is also a good car to look at and test drive.

Ever consider the Civic Si sedan?

mpg = great
safety = great
luxury = ok
acceleration = ok
handling = great

I know some of you may recommend a MS3 but I think that car is ugly and having a turbo will cost you in the mpg part; those EPA numbers lie!
For the Evo/STi; I think these two cars are way too fast to be family cars, lol. Again, turbo kills mpg.

True, true. Then again, RX-8s are pretty cheap, especially used. One would have to guzzle an awful lot of gas to make up the price difference between an RX-8 and a 335i or even an Evo.
