Default Best "third" car for 8 grand.

A little background to help break it down. I'm a part time college, full time military guy who still has the privilage of living at home. Becuase of this, i have no need for a truly "feasable" car, as my dad and mom each own SUV's. I have the S which will be paid of in about 2 yrs, but i want something else to keep the miles down. I've put nearly 20000 miles on it in 14months which is much to high for my liking. I'm looking for a good third car, the second being my parents. I was thinking about buying a moderatly fixed up S600 and working with it. I figure i could have a pretty unique S600 for 8000 grand...... maybe even have a turbo s2000 and a turbo s600 who knows. I'm simply looking for a car that offers the same spirit as the S2000 but for 8 grand. I'm considering a 93MR 2 turbo, as i've found one with a new engine/turbo/clutch for only 7900. Any thoughts. Thnx,

Brandon

I don't think he'll be able to find a GOOD MR2 for 8 grand, I think it would be closer to 12-14 for a GOOD one. those things have held value well.
You can lease an '03 Civic Si right now for 189/month w/ $1k down

You're right though. A good MR2 in Canada goes for $15-20K Canadian (10-14k US)

can i ask why? What would the MR2 give you that the S2000 doesn't? I'm a little confused as to the purpose of this "3rd" car...

ah i see. well i always think the ideal second vehicle is some sort of truck. i know you say you don't need something practical, but you may as well get something practical while you're at it. that way you can drive the truck and not worry about miles normally. You'll have something to haul anything you need or drive in bad weather. And you'll have the S whenever you want some fun. OR buy a motorcycle, which is what i have as a second vehicle. You can get a super nice bike for 8 grand.

I was going to say, a great second or third vehicle would simply be a sport bike.
