BMW tuning with AFC or emanage
I have a friend with a 1998 BMW 328i. He is about to start modding it with and intake, header, and cat-back. It is an OBD-2 car. I was wondering if he is able to tune with either an APEXi SAFC or a GReddy e-manage. Any input would help. These just seem like cheaper and maybe better alternatives than the BMW market offers.
The bad thing about the 328 is that most aftermarket guys only make parts for the M3. When I first got my 97 328IS I had asked around about aftermarket parts that would fit my motor. Everyone would tell me there is just not enuff money in parts for your car. -> they could make the part but in order to break even that would have to sell a given number of units,...and they never could for the non M3 cars.
I would tell your friend to sell the 328 and get a M3 if he wants to mod a car. Or get some real deep pockets and get one off stuff made.

Does Jim Conforti make a Shark fuel map for the 328? The OBDII e36 ecu is flashable.
[edit] Just checked...there is a Shark injector for the 328. Probably less expensive than a SAFC and tune.

I think the challenge for getting an SAFC/Neo or eManage to work will be the wiring harness. Might post on bimmerforums to see if anyone has done this before and if there is a PnP harness for the e36.
