Broken valve cover bolt

I was installing an intake on my friends gs350, and the mounting bracket goes on the valve cover bolt. While putting the bolt back on, I over tightened it and it snapped off :banghead:

How can i remove the remaining part of the bolt? It is too low to grab with a vise grip.

The hole goes through if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You need to get a bolt extractor bit. You attach it to your drill, set it in reverse & drill a small tap hole. You then flip the bit & extract it with the tool. Cost around $15-$20 at a hardware store.

I once stripped the head of an allen on my steering wheel/quick release setup & this is what I used to remove the stripped bolt head. Same principle for broken off head, as long as there is surface to work on.

Can you just pull the valve cover then grab the remnants of the bolt?

Removing the valve cover on this car would be a lot of work. There is so much stuff on top of it, i wouldnt know where to begin haha.

Thanks for the help. Looks like i'll have to use an easy out. I was really trying to avoid it though

do yourself a favor and dont buy the black and decker bolt extractors. i broke three in a row while using them properly and trying to extract a fairly non rusted bolt. i went and bought a good set and it worked like a charm.

good luck.
