Thumbs up Camry or Accord hybrid?

I'm in the market for a mid-size family sedan and this time it has to be a hybrid. Two of the most reliable cars are now available in hybrid. Just a matter of picking one of the other. Similar prices too!

I have an 06 Accord, and love it - but I do know that Honda is discontinuing the Accord hybrid sometime this year to lack of sales/interest. As much as i'd love to tell you to buy the Accord, if you must buy a hybrid, i'd go with the Camry. Newer technology, better MPG than the hybrid Accord, while imo, not as good looking.

What's the pull on getting a hybrid? My non-hybrid EX-L Accord avg's 35 MPG on the highway.

I'm with S2KBDub - get the Camry. Newer, better MPG, and still pretty quick.

Camry wins this battle - price, mpg, looks (IMO)

Honda is wisely stepping out, but a new Accord will grace us next year.

I still don't see the use for a hybrid within this segment. The MPG are similar to the 4cyl variants. You pay alot more upfront for the "fuel savings". Your better off with a 4cyl if you want the gas savings or the 6cyl if you want the power.

The initial cost of buying a hybrid is the big hurdle right now.

He seems set on a hybrid and that's fine, and the payback time is coming down from 10 years to like 7-8. A Civic or Mazda3 seem perfect to me if you are looking for decent room, looks, performance, and fuel economy - guess that's why they are selling so well.

Hybrid's are mostly hype especially after factoring cost and return on investment. I'd get a regular 4 banger Accord or Camry if I was interested in better mileage and good reliability.

Is that including the elephant in the corner that everyone always ignores, the battery replacement? I believe it is not. And while I've heard rumors of the original owners MAYBE having that covered by warranty, who knows...and resale value will be shot to hell at, say, year 5 if everyone knows the battery needs to be replaced at year 7, and only the OE can get it for free....

I'd go 4cyl instead of hybrid, but that's just me.

I'm really not a fan of the hybrids right now, but if you had to pick one, I'm actually starting to prefer the looks of the Camry over the Accord. The thing is, you can get a good V6 AND a 6 speed manual in the Accord. That'd be a deal-breaker for me.

Drove a hybrid Accord and didn't like the way it handled. Felt heavy with loads of understeer. The only way I would consider one of the current hybrids would be if I intended it for a steady diet of stop and go city driving.
