I think the S2000 bashing is to lead up to his eventual point about the Evora being a modern car. Although he may have a point... if you sit in a 986 Boxster or 996 Carrera, it looks horrible (I think). Any modern German car (and many Japanese) cars look better (IMHO).

Of course the level of refinement and interior quality in the "bashed" cars is still arguably better than 95% of the American vehicles produced today....

Anyway, good news on the Evora! I'd consider one...

He does bash on it, but he's really just whining about comfort and satnav. He still admits it had "always been his favorite small sports car"

[QUOTE=Clarkson]Honda announced recently that it

I just saw the Evora when it came to Austin on Saturday. It's ok. Much easier to get in and out of than the Elise / Exige. The shifts felt more crisp and direct than I had expected (I just went through them while it was parked). The car is still missing something...not quite sure what it is. It just doesn't have that "have to have it" appeal to me (at least based on looks).

"If I were off-road in a Ferrari, my skeleton would be smashed to bits. [Not so in the Evora" - Clarkson
He's just getting old and has different tastes now. Take his opinions in context. He's an old guy trying to look cool, covered in soot talking on a iPhone. Great entertainment

No question one of my favorite reviewers, but may be getting a bit soft as he nears 50...since when has an S2000 ever been about creature comforts?
