I don't know. WarrenW do you have any thoughts on the subject?

I personally don't think the article had enough depth. It misses some things that were outside of the control of the Big 3. Much of the Big 3's problems are of their own making but not all. Those areas should be covered in the interest of fairness.

So what is your take?

Now if much of those problems they had control of would have being taken care of I would guess right now they would have more room to move in order to come afloat without such issues. I personally believe that GM is the one with the biggest chance to make the faster change but Ford is stepping up in an impressive way, what would Chrysler do?

If GM and Ford can hang on they will likely be OK in the end. Chrysler seems to have been left for dead by very poor German management.

I think Chrysler is going to be alright because it seems Nissan is very interested in being the new owner/partner or whatever it turns out to be.
You know I have been saying for years that Ford had Mazda and Volvo technology in their cars , Chrysler had Mercedes tech now to be Nissan tech in theirs , and Gm bringing up the rear as always with no tech in their cars .
What was really funny the one thing where it looked like GM had an advantage was the EV1 and well they must have thought it was not good for a GM car to have more than the usual 1950's tech so they took them back and crushed em !
Beancounters have been and are continuing to strangle GM for the last 30 odd years. Do not know how they can survive much longer.

irrelevant; i always drove a honda or a toyota

ford, gm, chrysler, their managment is reckless considering a $1.50 increase in gas and they are out of business and no exit strategy.

If you look up GM biggest regret on google and click on pictures, a picture of an EV1 will be displayed. They owe a few engineers a great apology but I guess some of those engineers are just laughing their ass off at GM now. Sad.
