EJ25 or 4G63
Hey everyone, I'm looking to start a project and I've always wanted an S2k. I've owned an Evo 8 gsr and two WRX's. I'd like to swap either an EJ25 or 4G63 into an S2K. Any thoughts or suggestions?

If you've got tons of money and a big shop with plenty of machining equipment laying around for the custom fabrication then sure why not.

I've seen youtube videos of 4G63 swapped S2Ks so I know that's possible, but I'd really like to do the EJ25 with Full-Race twin scroll set up running a Garrett GTX3076R. My main concern is if the horizontally opposed EJ would fit.

for someone who claims to have been in the industry for a while, you would be aware that S2k's can make 450whp reliably

4G63 and reliable do not belong in the same sentence.

Lol @ the ej being a more reliable engine than an F series. EJ's have always been the weak point in the wrx/sti, specifically the pistons/rings, not counting the wrx's 5 speed. If you hang around here long enough you'll find the F series is whats makes the s2k and the drivetrain is the weak link. Stock block F's are well documented to hold well up to 6-700hp without any issue for many, many thousands of miles but the diff and trans are what won't hold up to it. Most people making big power are moving on to supra 6spd getrags and ford 8.8 rears.
On the other hand, the 4g's will also take a hell of a beating and might as well be Mitsubishi's reliable equivalent to the F and should make some more torque. There is really little point in swapping out an F series unless you have to be unique or you must have torque, in which case you effectively bought the wrong car. I'm all for swapping engines and making interesting frankensteins out of cars but you have to keep in mind how expensive and how much trouble and headaches are involved. And the s2k isn't a car that needs an engine swap. |
you know, i totally forgot about all of that...i have to agree, youre talking about reliability, yet you want to try and sway in two motors that have proven not to be as reliable as the F series...i have to agree with these guys...not really a smart move...if you just want to throw away money, i can give you my paypal info
