Default Experienced the V8 thrill...

With the talk about V8's and a thread about v8 in a s2000. I weirdly driven two Z06's this week. A salesmen car and a trade-in I went to go pick up today. I drove the salesmen car about 2 days ago, its pretty much stock but for a sweet looking cf cool air intake system.

Let me tell you one thing though. I never been a real big fan of American v8 cars. I don't know why, but they never did. I guess with so many ass hats with them it just totally didn't go for me. With that igorance I had with them, I joined the many saying, fu_ck v8's, f this, f that... Without me ever experiencing one.

A few months ago after driving a V8 M3 it got me thing... Shit, if its that good and responsive, i wonder how a American v8 is like.

The salesman told me to give it some stick from 1-2-3. Just redline it through all gears. I did and holy mother... After driving my S2000 for almost 4 years now, its amazing how much 400hp is like. I love driving slowly in 1st when I hit 3.5grand just step on the pedal and bam the car goes squirrely...the exhaust note is just heavenly too. Downshifts with backfire, can't beat that...

So yeah, I mind has changed a lot on American cars now. The car that I actually brought from another dealership I can get pretty cheap. 38k and my manager told me he'd give it to me for 22k. Sucks cause I would have probably got it if it wasn't for a house I'm getting right now...

did you mean 32k? if it's 22k i'm flying over to buy it and drive it back to socal.

but yeah i hear ya, a c5 z06 can be had for pretty cheap right now and i'm seriously contemplating jumping on the v8 wagon. you can't beat the response, huge torque/power band, and great MPG on the highway.

i love the turbo rush on my previous and current 4cyl turbo cars, it just felt less "lazy" than the big v8, but overall a v8 esp. LSx is much more efficient in making power, which i value a lot. and not having to deal with turbo lag at 400whp is very nice as well.

only issue for me is i haven't driven a real vette yet (only a modded ls1 fd rx7).......and i'm asian

Nope, 22k... But thats at my cost though. For someone well put it for 25-26.

I totally forgot to tell you the difference of the two Z06's... Since the salesman car has that intake system i told him to see if this would be a great buy. He drove it and he said it feels different than his car and thats when he's like, I bet it doesn't have the intake i have. Sure enough he was right when we pop'd the hood for the first time. He said the intake alone netted him like 30hp. I love it that v8 and turbo cars too response so well to bolt ons.

He did tell me he never did like the interior of the Vette. Its too busy with the center console coming off. He's a cool guy and loves all cars. He actually wants to sell his and get an NSX. He loves handling cars. I just never thought coming from a vette guy he wants a NSX really bad lol.

I think I would be swayed even more into getting a FD shell or a FD with a LS1.

A clean C5 Z06 ('02+) without a ton of miles is a STEAL at $22k.

What year/mileage/color is it? There's a good chance you could buy it, drive it for several months, and sell it for more than you paid.

Yeah, you could sell that for $25K pretty easily. I'd try to figure out a way to get it. At $22k, it would be a free car for several months, if not longer.

Sorry, just stating the facts. $22k has little downside for quite a while. It would be fun to buy, enjoy for a while, and sell for zero loss and quite possibly, a profit.
