Oil giants will buy up the rights with obscene offers that will keep dino oil's stranglehold.
Sad, but probably true.

Aside from water, and we know how hard and energy intensive it is to get hydrogen from water, the only place to get a huge amount of hydrogen is from crude oil.

The question they are solving is not 'how not to avoid pumping oil' the question they solve is ' how to power cars cleaner than we do today'. So instead of cracking crude the way we do do today, we just have to crack and refine to produce more hydrogen.

So oil companies will look at this as their saviour because their crude oil is now 'guilt-free' and electric cars and conservations nonsense wont matter.

But wait! How will the government tax us on it without a negative externality??
Also, I don't know if they'll sell out just yet to the shieks... If you think about it they can replace the shieks. Another thing I noticed the word patent, so howlong before china makes their own knock off version. Lastly, anyone wanna give me a brief rundown on how we get hydrogen?

The Aggies had a plan to send giant space ships to the sun and collect it at night. Not sure if that plan is still in the works.

^I agree it sounds like they are looking for additional funding

Sticking to my guns that the best approach is nuclear power to create hydrogen from water.

I wouldn't think it was a scam...with oxford involved and all, but it could be that they just stole some lab equipment from oxford and are claiming their involvement. Too early to tell, imo.
