Gonna need a family car soon, to get around...

My girlfriend and I are planning on getting married sometime in the spring, then moving to the suburbs. I have my S2000, but that will become a garage queen (she's now a driveway and 2 car cover queen.) I need something good, reliable, not too expensive, comfortable, affordable, good looking, 4WD if possible, and has some balls to it would be a nice bonus.

Now, I saw a new Mazda 6 whiz by me the other day, and I thought it looked damn good. The optioned out one looks like a nice car. I was also looking at the Scion Xb as i love the utility of it, and lack of gas guzzlage. I know I can walk into any American car dealer, and get 40% off on whatever I want, but i really don't want an American car. (Unless it's like 60% off.) Anyone have any recommendations on a good 4 door/small SUV car...trying to stay sub $35K if possible.

well i like the xb's, theyre reliable and have alot of aftermarket parts if you ever decide to mod it.

i also really liked the rav 4 and 4 runner

I'm contemplating picking up one of these. My girlfriend wants one, but I may just snag one before her. Its practical, not bad on gas at all, kinda has some grunt.... Nah not really who the hell am I kidding. But I think its a looker. Its definitely pricier than a Scion, looks alot better, but cheaper than an optioned out Mazda 6. The usable space when you fold the seats "up" is ridiculous and the back seats have tons of room.

You can get a pretty nice CR-V for $26K or so (selling at invoice these days).

A Toyota RAV4 with the V6 is quite a bit quicker and not too much worse for fuel economy.

A Subaru makes the most sense to me, though - get the WRX or Legacy and you have a year-round car with decent room, decent mileage, fairly nice to drive, and well under your price range, even fully loaded.

G8 might be fun. No AWD though. Easy to mod if you need more speed.
