GR Supra: Any owners or anyone with seat time?
Considering purchasing a 2026 Supra. Cannot seem to find one with a manual below MSRP. Although they are not the best bang for the buck in OEM form, from what I have read, they respond very well to modifications. A premium model is $63k.
Curious if anybody owns one and how it compares to other cars you have owned or driven.
What else would you guys consider in terms of comparable cars?

No seat time to offer, however I will say that were I in the market for a $50-60k sports car then a 6sp Supra is my #1 choice. Of course, in that range there aren't many NEW choices anyway.. I mean, to hell with a 4000 lb Mustang - not my style.

If you have driven a M2C, acceleration is similar. It’s fast and with the aftermarket available, well it can be turned into a Supercar. I’d take it over the C8, for the 6MT alone. You can find them for MSRP but you will have to fly and drive or have it shipped. I have a connect in TX that may be able to order you one.

Spent a little time in an earlier, slightly modified auto model. Cool car...accelerates well. Turbo noises turn me into an immature teenager. My wife even liked it which is wild...she never likes anything that doesn'tt start with "M" and end in "iata". She's a manual snob like me though so auto was out and sticks were rare...they were just coming out at the time.

The 6 speed is a huge part of the draw. I am not considering mustangs or camaros. I would go for another C6Z or C7Z instead. I have always been an import guy and used to lust after the MK4 Supra and NSX, but the prices on those cars are not even close to worth it for me. I really do not need another 2 seater, but as a one man family, it doesn't exactly present a problem either! I would want to maintain the warranty on a new car at least for a while, and am questioning whether the Supra's power:weight will placate me. I like to keep one fairly new high performance car in the fleet, and it was C6Z, C7Z, GTR most recently. The Supra with bolt-ons and a tune would definitely suffice.

Drove an auto '21 before. Pretty nice drive overall, B58 powertrain is smooth. Steering feel is eh, but also that's just a lot of modern cars. Do agree that it's not the most bang for buck in OEM form, but responds well to mods.
While I haven't driven a manual Supra before, I did at least sit in one. The shifter doesn't seem to have as much as the typical rubbery BMW feeling (but a bit of that feeling is still present).
Not the same type of car, but I've seen people cross-shop the Supra with the Camaro SS 1LE as well as the Mustang GT PP.

Since you had AWD with the R35 I would suggest at least test driving the GRC. A few of us here are quite happy with them. It is my performance car in the fleet. And we may be getting the new GR Celica, which will be a coupe. It may have their new inline 4 turbo rated at 400HP.

Owned one for a year or two. Kept it stock. Sold it. I sometimes forget I even owned it.
It had good performance and I liked the interior a lot. But I found it to be a numb and boring street car. Had to be blasting at go-to-jail speeds or hang it sideways to feel like I was having fun. I liked how it rotated but the steering feel was poor so it was hard to drive around the front end and the rear end was sometimes unpredictable due to the behavior of the diff. It was more of a cruiser GT style modern car but for those types of cars I prefer something with 4 seats and a better sound system. I went the other direction and replaced it with a modified E46 M3. Much happier with that. More practical, still comfortable, and more fun on the street & canyon.
What's your use case and what are you looking for from it? It is great as a track car if you are going for more than just feel, and looking to hit particular performance metrics (e.g. time trial etc). Not much will compete with it in that price bracket from performance perspective. When you're done modding it you'll be in about $75K.
Other things in or around price bracket: E46 M3, E9x M3, Z4M coupe, 981 Cayman, 997.2 911, 991.1 911, M2.

Yeah I think that's the problem with all these powerful cars on the market now, it gets to a point where they're just boring at sane speeds, no drama to it unless you plan on committing a felony or at the track. But I would think the A90 may have been a good compromise given it's relatively smaller stature.
