GT500KR
Is this destined to be a 100k mustang that is still slower then the Z06? :)
http://www.stangnet.com/Ford-Mustang-News/...0KR-070330.html 540HP...if only it would lose 1000lbs. |
The car looks great but I agree, it's awfully heavy.
Going to be a hoot in a straight line, though. |
Why dont they just come out with GTR one that was all over the internet that was orange and had a crate motor in it?
|
It will still be slower than a Z06. There's more that differentiates the Z06 from the Mustang beyond the fact that they both command over 500hp. Not only is the Z06 lighter, but its handling characteristics are a notch above. When C&D compared the Mustang to a regular C6 the Vette easily outhandled it, beyond the weight and accompanying speed prowess.
Not that I'm a total Mustang hater, but the Z06 is going to be a cut above dynamically in just about any comparison with a Mustang that's this heavy. If Ford wants to compete with the Z06, they have the GT, which is plenty capable. |
40 more ponies for probably xxK...no thanks

Unfortunately that is what comes with the use of an solid iron engine block. Thing will take massive amounts of boost (already seen a 700 hp kit from Kenne Bell). The regular Mustang GT, with it's aluminum engine block is a good 200 lbs. lighter and handles quite a bit better (basis for the Roush Stage 3 Mustang). Not to mention that the Z06 has massive amounts of aluminum, carbon fiber, etc. Mustangs are still made with standard steel. They need to take a page out of their FR500 unit.

Cars over priced and over weight IMO, and I'm a Mustang fanatic. Plus the ADM's on this thing will be insane. I'd buy a ZO6, much better bang for the buck.

Mustangs are built to be cheap. They should stay that way.
