Help with a Lease

Okay, my girlfriend is set on getting a 325Xi. So no arguments about that or better cars.. just need help dealing with the lease. I've never tried to negotiate on a lease before.

What the dealer told me is 5,300 down, and then 210 a month. Total = $10,340 Do you think it's possible to work him down to 5000 down and 200 a month (my gf's target numbers)? Total = $9,800. These numbers would be tax included which is Massachusetts is like 5% or something. It's a 2 year lease, 10,000 miles per year. Could I do even better than my girlfriend's goal??

Oh and the car stickers for $33.370, if that matters.

Thanks for your input!

Wow, $10k to have a car for two years an no more than 20K miles. I knew there was a reason why I don't lease cars.

10,000 dollar loan for 48 months + 5 grand cash will get you a 15,000 car at around 200 a month -- and you will own it. Of course I'd just buy a 5 grand civic and call it a day ...

Thanks for that input, but it's not very constructive... she's in boston for 2 years, doesn't want to buy a car, really likes the 325Xi... so any inputs on the lease itself?

you're getting ripped up to shreds....the whole point of leasing is so you put 0 down....

i.e. I got my S2000 (MSRP of 32,800) for 0 down 419$/month

you need to go on some bmw forums and find out what others paid

It's a BMW you will not find that type of lease on a Bimmer. Honda had a lease on the S2000 with 5k down, and the monthly was 450.00 that was a laugh. Yeah; you can ket a KIA 1k down, with those low monthly's. PICK THAT BMW UP!!!!

its nice to not have to put anything down, 210/mo is pretty low though

BMW dealers are usually firm on their finances, there's little or no room to negotiate.... (It's pretty much either yay or nay.) I'm sure the dealer might swing a 0 down at 400 / month, IF AVAILABLE.

What's 5k down with a low monthly of $210.00 - NOTHING MUCH!!! Either way the dealer is going to get paid.

Back of the napkin numbers: Say the residual is $21,000. $33,000-$21,000=$12,000. What's it cost to borrow $33,000 for two years? 5% per year? That's $3,300. Plus the $12,000 is $15,300. Subtracting your $5,000 down leaves $10,300. Divided by 24 months is $430 per month.

And the dealer ONLY wants five thousand down and two hundred a month?! Something's out of kilter: 1) My numbers are way wrong, 2) the lease is subvented, 3) the dealer made a mistake and the offer won't be on the table next time, or 4) the dealer DIDN'T make a mistake and the offer won't be on the table next time. ;)

Run the numbers on http://leasecompare.com/ and see what comes up...
