Hummer EV
 

For fun, I put down a $100 refundable deposit on Saturday (not much of a commitment, haha) on an Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 with Extreme Off-Road Package. The reservation slots for the Edition 1 were gone within an hour. It won't be delivered for 18-24 months, so I got much time to ponder whether I will buy or not. Regardless, it looks pretty awesome.

I'm thinking besides engine sound and shifting your own gears (which I really enjoy), the electric future is going to be pretty nice.

They look really cool, but... GM though.

Trust me, I've had a bunch of GM vehicles and know the good and bad. :D :D Overall, I've had good luck with them though so am a fan mostly.

I will say that GM is probably further along the curve than most on the electric front and the Volt/Bolt have proven to be quite reliable and well-engineered vehicles overall. Not a big sales success (styling and size is my guess for most of the problem), but the engineering is there.

We shall see though. GM is going all-in on electric with a $27B+ investment over the next several years on electric vehicle development.

Maybe someone will buy your reservation off of you?

Nothing at all interesting or nice (IMO) for an electric future with these vehicles. Really not seeing it.

Yep, that is a possibility based on what happens down the road, the demand, whether I want to sell it, and my ability to do so (i.e. does the reservation holder's name have to match the placed order or it's released, etc.)

Man, can't say I agree. 830-1000+hp, 0-60mph in 3-3.5 seconds, 300+ mile ranges, crab walk, tank spins, super fast 800V charging, etc. Super comfy, super luxurious, super capable 4x4 beasts, removable tops. It's going to be a freaking blast to drive. And this is just the beginning...

Haven't seen an 800v charger yet. All we have here is chademo/400v. You'll be charging at home anyhow so Level 2 90+% of the time.

Agreed, but hopefully by the time these come out there will be 800V chargers as the Hummer is designed to be charged at this rate. Should be interesting..
