But seriously, for that price, I don't think it is a very good investment. I looked into the AC Propulsion project. They are in the works to build and sell a modified Scion Xb to be BEV with 180 miles range for $40k. So no need to worry about accidents/safety since it is a legal US car.
AC Propulsion is the guys that did the tZero. the mod'ed Xb is projected to have 0-60 in 6 to 7 sec.
