Keep the Jetta and sell the Ridgeline? How often does the RL get used? It's not a very viable commuter... What about selling the RL AND the Jetta and just getting a cheap commuter Civic or something?

The Ridgeline is a great commuter, aside from not being particularly efficient. It's comfortable, and having dirtbikes w/o a truck is like having a sports car on jackstands w/ no wheels. Bottom line, it's not going anywhere.

Ah ok. Makes sense. This might be too much but what about selling the M3 and the Jetta and maybe leasing/buying a CPO 335i 6-sp/auto... 80% of the fun of the M3 but more economical/cheap to get crazy power on/same series BMW and then getting a Civic or Civic hybrid for your wife to commute in? Basically cuts down on insurance costs, reliability issues (except the 335i's fuel pumps/turbos aren't as reliable as M3's V8 :\), and depreciation on the M3 while also getting rid of a potential liability (Jetta) and replacing it with a more economical, no worries commuter.

Just a thought. You can go so many different ways on this, just offering a creative solution.

Thanks for the idea, but given the buy/sell spread you often have to pay, plus taxes, for a vehicle combo neither of us would be thrilled about doesn't get me excited.

I'm thinking we'll just work w/ the remaining 3 vehicles, I'll be happy w/ them for as long as they're relatively reliable and don't require too much upkeep.

Although I'd love to minimize my carbon footprint (and try to do so when/where practicable), I'm now to the point where I'd rather drive vehicles I really love vs. vehicles that just save me money.

Sounds like the Jetta is entirely redundant, given the other cars you have. It server no purpose that cannot be handled by something else you own. In that sense, you won't be losing anything by selling it. Except some expenses.
