Default Lotus Elise vs C6 corvette

Both cars are due out shortly, both will cost $40K and change, 2 seats etc...

I wonder if there will be much cross shopping.

I plan on getting the Elise, have it for 3 years or so, then sell it and get a Z06 C6, used. That Vette I'm thinking will not hold it's value very well. I want a small, light, great handling car now. Maybe I'll tire of it and want some torque in a few years. I've never had a Vette, but the C6 has my interest and there are no other good American sports cars out there. No offense to Mustang fans.

Funny topic as it matches exactly my purchase decision. I've had my S2000 for over 4 years and I still love it. However, I was enamored with the Elise and recently with the C6 convertible (not coupe). The Elise had to be ruled out because of my commute, so the C6 is it. Incidentally, the cheapest C6 (coupe) will be around $46k and the convertible around $52k. This is a decent premium above the Elise. It would be difficult to pick two more different sports cars than the Elise and the C6.

As to your last choice on the poll, I have zero interest in Porsche (although I would have said the same thing for any domestic model prior to seeing the C6 vert).

I personally, would rather have an S2000 and a C6. I honestly do not see the appeal of the elise. Its fast and handles great....but why? BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING IN THE CAR!!

If you strip an s2000, I am sure it would demolish an Elise on the track.

i would rather not drive a tin-can kit-car, so my vote goes to the C6.

I like all three cars listed, some people might say the Porsche is overpriced, the same could be said of the Elise.

I didn't think I'd ever pick a Chevy over a Porsche, but after driving a Z06 (I know the C6 coupe is not the same), but 400/400 leaves an impression. BTW I have driven a Boxster S as well.

The Lotus, I have never driven, nothing to guage it by (except my S2000). I think the S is small enough for me, don't know if I want a smaller more spartin, low TQ car.

So my vote goes to the C6.

If Porsche comes out with a 300hp Boxster S coupe that's another story.
