Default New DD - bmw 335i CPO

I've been looking for for a new DD to replace my base RSX. I was getting close to taking the plunge on a new TDI jetta - but I didn't love it and the wife hated it.

So then the search opened up - car needed to be a lux brand(per wife) so wife can have a companion vehicile(suv) of the same brand.

Ideally I wanted to spend about 24-26,000

The candidates -

2011 Volvo C30 R line
2010 Lexus IS250 - no man tranny avail locally
2010 TSX - no man tranny avail locally
2008 328 CPO - couldn't find the right car at the right price @ the dealership

The wife and I decided that we were going with a CPO 3 series.

I finally found a private party 2008 335 coupe CPO - Manual tran, sports pkg, premium pkg, IPOD adpt, new tires - I am taking delivery this week -

I've noticed a few posters on the board that have had the car or experience with it. Other then then eating fuel pumps, and massive depreciation - Does anyone have any positive or negitive experiences with the 335i? I figured I would get a less bmw fanboy opinion on this board then the bmw-forums.

Thanks for looking/posting

My ex still has my 2007 335i 6speed w/ everything but Navi and the radar cruise and it's about to click 50K miles. It hasn't been in the shop for anything but routine service visits and it's been pushing 400RWHP since it had less than 10K miles on it. The car is a lot of fun...very comfortable and gets 30+mpg on the highway when I can keep my foot out of it. I consider it to be a better DD than my E46 M3 as it's a little less 'edgy' in terms of suspension etc. I have not had any issues...HPFP related or otherwise, it's been a wonderful car and I would recommend it without hesitation. Of the cars on your list there is no question that you made the better choice with the 335.

I found the throttle response on the 3 series lacking, especially compared to the s2k. There was a delay between pressing the gas and the engine responding (damn DBW). With a slushbox, it's much less obnoxious imo. Also, the car doesn't have a spare tire or spare tire well, which is a dealbreaker for me. It clearly isn't too big a deal for many people though. Replacement run flat tires of course are $$$. Another solution is to just toss a spare tire right in the middle of your trunk (which is what a coworker does with his 335, but is completely asinine to me as it takes up the majority of your trunk).

Other than those complaints (I'm not sure if the 3 series has an engine oil dipstick or not, I know the newer mercedes do not (which is again beyond stupid imo)), I think the cars are a blast to drive, and certainly the best sport sedans on the market.

Quick question for clarification. Did you say your wife wanted you to have matching brands of vehicles?
