New GT2 RS reclaims Nurburgring record: 6:47.3

Oh, that’s precious. Y’all thought you could steal the “fastest road car on the Nürburgring” title from Porsche? Porsche, who lives just a short drive away? That’s cute!!! Porsche took back the record for the fastest street-legal sports car on the ‘Ring with a 6:47.3 lap time around the Nordschleife course.

Not surprised, time and technology moves on. The 918 was released in 2013 and probably designed starting in 2010/2011. These cars are getting silly fast, within 4 seconds of Mclaren P1 GTR.

Awesome, so if I ever develop the ability like the professional driver that did the lap record, earn thr money to afford to buy that car and then take a trip to Germany and rent out the ring, I too can be able to say in the fastest around the ring... in a production car! Until the next car does it. Great.
Seriously don't care, how's the car for what im actually going to use it for? Is it going to make me into a driving god at my local track? Actually it probably would...

I thought the track put an end to these official fastest lap things?

I dunno, because German?

^^no, that was a temporary stoppage.

I like this record. Proof that a well set up RWD car with lightweight and limited tech/gizmos will still beat lots of tech and it's inherent weight penalties.

In a unibody car no less.

Don't you start with that here.

Can you even buy these? seems like, no. It's annoying when they somehow sell out before they are released. But, this thing is amazing!
