I'd kill for a 2,700lb, 450 horse Z06.

Is there a petition we can sign?

is it right that everytime I read the words 'carbon footprint' I want to beat the heck out of a former VP?

BTW I'm all for smaller cars but I think they should sell on their merit not b/c some nut job has the media worked into a frenzy.

I don't think so. Chevy knows the formula for the Vette and relative affordability is as critical as V8 power. I think it's still too soon to know what will happen with the C7, but I do think 300-400 lbs sounds a bit optimisitic. But, then again, they could use an aluminum frame (which, I believe, saves 150 lbs on the Z06), shrink it a bit to save another 100 lbs or so, and then save some weight here and there on different components to save another 50 lbs. That would be 300 lbs right there. I'm not sure they need to shrink the LS3, though. Direct injection, displacement on demand, less parasitic loss from accessories, etc. could add up to some nice gains from an already efficient motor.

yeah; aluminum frame will be almost required. A restyle could open the door for making the car significantly smaller as well.

I don't think they'll get to the 400 lb mark, but I'm thinking 250-300 is easily doable if the pricing allows.

They're still experimenting with carbon fiber. If they can make the production parts survive extended environmental exposure we'll a LOT more of it on that car.

I'd be impressed with even a 250lbs reduction, especially if they do a little focus to make the roof lighter on the standard model and reduce rotational mass.
