Road and track mx5 vs s2000
Road and track is in love with the new Miata (they also did a comparison to the Ferrari 488 spy set) Interesting read.

Not certain if I agree with all the points. The styling of the S2000 is very good in a non offensive way.
For me the Miata is a great way to get started on the hobby of sports cars. It's going to be fun, it's going to be reliable, and you're going to learn how to handle rwd, safely. It's like using Samuel Adams as your intro to nice beer. It's not going to offend you or scare you off. For a lot of folks, Sam Adams will be as far as you venture, as many folks will never venture past the Miata. All of this is just fine and dandy. At the end of the day everyone is better off for the existence of these products. |
In general I find Jack Baruth to be full of :censored:

I'm betting he had to look long and hard for such an unexciting a pic of the S2000.

It's an opinion piece, one I mostly disagree with.
To me the one and only place the s2000 loses to a miata is steering feel. |
^ The weight difference is another advantage.

Did anyone think he would be open minded or fair?
He wrote "S2K fanboys..." I like the new MX5 but I still like my old S2000 a tad bit better. I think the next gen MX5 will be the S2K killer... |
The Miata is a great car.
The S2000 is better. |
The only problem the S2K really has is the rear differential, which is made out of papier-mache. |
Although there were many bias comments and opinions in this article, it's still great to see the s2k be compared to modern day cars (especially since the s2k's styling was designed almost two decades ago).
