Default S2k or Supra?

Long story short, I've been a supra fan for a long time, however, never owned one due to the constant overinflated price. Last year I purchased my 1st s2k, it was pretty much an impulse buy, and I immediately fell in love with how much fun it was to drive. The only con was that it held a salvaged title. Unfortunately, I ended up selling it 6 months later b/c of financial reasons. I am currently in a graduate program and will complete my degree June 2015, so I'll be able to free up some time and start making a decent income.

So I'm pretty much looking into getting myself a graduation gift ...why not right? 4 yrs for B.S. degree, 4 yrs for doctorate

That impulse buy opened my eyes to how much fun S2k's can be, however, the back of my mind keeps telling me to just go for a supra.

So I made a quick comparison of the two to justify why I am currently leaning towards the S2k.

Price for mint s2k ~20-25k....supra tt ~40k+
S2k motor (stock) can handle up to ~800hp....supra can handle up to 1000hp
S2k parts are fairly cheap...supra parts are EXPENSIVE.
S2k's are reliable, just like all Hondas. Supras are...uhh fair? Not sure...

I like that the f20c/f22c has forged internals just like the 2jz-gte, which allows for it to handle high boost well.
Furthermore, I see myself putting in more track time than drag racing. I've also noticed how much these supra owners are spending on their upgrades and honestly, I don't foresee myself spending 40-50k on top of the car purchase. S2k's can be make into monsters with less than 20k in upgrades as far I noticed from this forum.

Idk, whats everyone's take on this? If you had a choice that was narrowed down to the two, would you choose the s2k or supra? Any why?

Without bringing up the future or what you should or should not do after graduate school and purely talk car than I would personally go for the s2k. Why? Because you mentioned that you would rather track a car than to drag it.The s2000 would be a cheaper car to take to the track while out performing the supra if they were matched dollar per dollar. If you plan on boosting the s2000 as mentioned than i wouldn't call it a very reliable machine anymore. More boost=less relability.
If money was not an issue I would go for the supra and yes, drop 40k into the car to make it an ultimate machine. The supra is more sought after, it turns heads where ever it goes. The s2000 isn't at that level yet. Just buy the supra and post pictures on the forums!!!!!!!

I personally would never spend 40k+ on a 20 year old car. Also, some s2000 motors can handle 800whp but don't expect it to be reliable at that power. I've never driven a supra, let alone a really fast one. Still, I'd imagine a reliable 400whp s2000 would be more fun to drive than a dated supra. That's just me though

Track car/Daily = S2K
Boost/weekend fun = Supra

But if you can afford a nice Turbo Supra, to me its a no brainer. SUPRA all day. 1992 Supra still sell for $35+, that should tell you something. Parts are not any more expensive than other big boost cars. Its a Toyota not a BMW, so reliability isnt an issue.

If your price point is as high as $40k you have plenty of options with the S2000 to buy and modify. Personally a 400-500whp S2000 built correctly might be more fun than a stock turbo supra for about the same price. But a 600-700 whp Supra is always king. but thats way past $40k including price of car.

The s2k is becoming dating already. I would consider them both to be in that rhelm of tuners. The supra,s2k, nsx, s14/s15/ rx7-rx8

For $40k you could buy an Exige S and have a FI Toyota engine that outhandles an S2k

But if it were my $40k I would buy a $16k higher mile clean S2k. Spend $10k to make it exactly what I want (SOS kit, Penske shocks, etc.) and then $24k for tires and track time!

Early 90s Supra Turbos are overrated and overvalued as they currently stand. You can get much newer cars which will perform similarly for less money.

IMHO - Supras are looking way way out dated. Yes they are a classic and yes people (including myself) still drool when one drives by...but if you are looking for power take those $40K and drop it on a vette...you can reach the 1000 horsies you want very easily

The 1992 Supra was the old style and they are very affordable. The new, coveted Supras started in 1993 and still command top dollar. I had a Toyota Supra and it was one of my all time favorite cars, but for the money today, I'd go with the nice S2000.
