Default Sedan for around 20k?

My dad is looking for a sedan for around 20k. it must be a sedan because i have two little siblings. It must be something relatively new, reliable, and as fun as possible. He's looking at used accords and camrys right now but i'm sure there are other good options. He's not a car guy at all and wouldn't be interested in things like the WRX. I suggested a Mini S but he says it absolutely has to have 4 doors. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Steve

I thought you were the guy who's dad has the GT2???

Nice sedan for $20k -

New = blaaaa (neon, cavalier, etc....)

Slightly Used

- Mazda Millenia S (supercharged and very comfortable)
- Nissan Altima
- Nissan Maxima
- Pontiac GTP
- Accord (you mentioned)
- Camry (you mentioned)
- Acura Integra 4 door GSR?

I would take the Maxima if it were me.

I'd get the Accord. I test drove a V6 and it was pretty peppy and lots of room with a great interior.

Tell your dad to dust off his wallet (J/K), but $20K is a low number IMO. Take a look at the TSX ($26K).

my stepdad has the GT2, this is my real dad. He's really not a car guy and just wants something pretty good. He currently is driving a 1997 Toyota Sienna van every day. I'm sure he can go up to 22-23, it's just not worth it to him to spend much more than that.

p.s. my stepdad, NOT my dad, is my business partner

If he's not really a car guy, I would recommend that he get a 2003 Accord EX with the 4-cylinder and a stick. It should be reasonably fun for a non-enthusiast, and you should be able to get one for a hair over invoice (or maybe less with the model-year clearance), which is probably around $20K. I bet he would be happy with the Accord. Or, how about a 1.8T 5-spd Passat? It will be a little more than the Accord, I believe.

I just bought a new Accord V6 LX for $21,400 + tax & lic. It's roomy, quiet, smooth, torquey, and reliable (hopefully). It is reasonably well appointed, too. All in all, I think it's a lot of car for the money, especially for the person who isn't a "car guy".

the car they are replacing with this one is a 1997ish Passat V6. my stepmom got in an accident in it last year and it hasn't been the same since. She is going to drive the van now and my dad is going to drive this new car.

Dodge SRT-4 all the way! That is if the "fun factor" is really important to him.
