American supercar manufacturer Shelby Super Cars (SSC) is aiming to snatch the production world speed record from the 253mph Bugatti Veyron next week.
Seven years in the making, the company

that thing won't be 1/3rd the car that the veyron is.. especially with that dodge neon interior. Speed isn't everything.

SSC = Shelby Super Cars?

Is there any connection to Carroll Shelby? I did not know this was the actual name, nor am I aware of the company's history. Regarding the car itself, it's not the worst looking thing ever, but it's definitely not pretty, especially for the price. I will say I think the car is impressive for the fact that it's only 2800lbs with a TT V8 and creature comforts like navi and AC.

Whether it will hit anything close to the 273mph it's theoretically capable of (based on engineering projections) is highly in question at this point. I'm skeptical, but if they do it, then awesome.
