Default Victory by Design DVD's

If you watch Speed Channel, you very likely have enjoyed Alain de Cadenet's "Victory by Design" Series, where they feature a performance marque and go through its development and racing history. De Cadenet is a former race driver, and quite the consummate host - suave, denonair, sort of a James Bond of motordom. The cars are lent by collectors - including several from Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits fame.

The DVD's are great - not only is the video image much clearer and free of ads, but the sound is amazing if you have DTS capability - the DVD's are re-mixed and far better than the cable TV versions. There are also more cars in the DVD versions - the Ferrari version now has the Dino and Enzo added.

The Ferrari, Jaguar, and Maserati vids are a must - just looking at the Ferrari P3 gives me goose bumps, as it is arguably Pinifarina's best design - hard to believe it was a race car!

They retail at $24.95. www.victorybydesign.com

Great gift idea for the speed freak in your life - my 5-year old enjoys saying "Mazroddi".

I just got the Ferrari disc and was going to post about it -- I agree it's great, much much better than the Speed Channel broadcasts! Also worth mentioning is that the video is 16x9 widescreen.

The guy on that show has got to be one of the luckiest men on the planet. I would be happy to just sit in those cars let alone drive it like I stole it!

Yes, he is fortunate, but he earned it by being a great driver - also charming, handsome, I hate him! And I love the vintage leather gear - goggles, helmet. He's not afraid.

What did the girl in Ausin Powers say? "Women want him, and men want to be him".

I gotta pick 'em up myself.

I watched the Ferrari one a few days ago, they have updated it with the Enzo and such, it was a nice surprise after seeing it 20 times or so

Alan de Cadernet is just an old school gentleman racer. He's competed in Porsches, Ferraris, Astons if I'm not mistaken and probably just about everything else. Lucky bastard is you ask me

I think you can add the Alfa one to that list, although obviously Ferrari is a must. I need to pick these up, I love the classics.

Where can I purchase it locally?

How about the Top Gear DVD where they test drove a lot of exotics?

I ordered the Ferrari DVD from them about 2 weeks before christmas as a gift.

It showed up the week after Christmas, and it was the Wrong DAMN DVD!! They somehow shipped me the Alfa disc.

Their DVD's might be great, but their quality control sucks. I have to wait another week or so get the right disc from them.
