Why does everyone refer to the new car from Acura

Why does everyone seem to refer to the new sports car from Acura as the "NSX"? Or next-gen NSX or some kinda NSX? I mean it is like the current Malibu or Impala or some other car that is nothing like it was in the past. I may be just venting but I don't understand why the new car is not given its own identity. I wonder how NSX owners feel about this new car being called the next-gen NSX... I really hope that it does not have NSX anywhere in its name! Any NSX owners want to chime, I would like to hear your opinion.

Because it's their New Sportscar X.

Disclaimer: I don't own an NSX.

NSX was the Acura flagship for god knows how long(but rumor has it God did say it was too long). It went away and Acura hasn't claimed anything else as their flagship. This V10 or whatever size engine it has now is suppose to be it, no one is giving it a name but everyone knows its going to be their flagship unless Acura is VERY good at keeping their big big gun a secret. They havent given it a catchy name so we are left only to call it the next NSX.

Same thing happened with Ferrari sortive. When enzo shots were leaking, everyone was calling it the F60 given how their supercar nomenclature went so far despite Ferrari never calling it an F60( or anything other than next supercar).

Give people an official name early and people MIGHT not call it something else.

You listening Toyota with that new "Next Supra" of yours? ;)

it's just an easy, convenient, and effective way to communicate with others what you are referring to. like icebergs2000 said, this car is to be the next flagship sportscar from acura, much like the nsx was. and since acura hasn't given the car an official name yet, it's a lot easier to refer to it as the "next NSX" as opposed to the "next flagship sportscar from acura".

.. because it makes sense to refer to it as the next NSX, or the new NSX until Honda actually gives it a name.. Would you prefer "the new sports car/GT currently being tested by Honda"?

I personally hate it when that ugly POS concept car was being referred to as a NSX.

The artist formerly known as NSX?

Because the design studios that the next NSX platform are based on originates from here in the U.S. And the studio's front name? Acura.

cbehney 06-04-2007 08:27 AM

Because calling it the Second Coming of the NSX would just irritate Mel Gibson too much?

Dumbest thread I've seen in this forum hands down.
