Wow... more Craigslist fun
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but it's funny.
I can't believe some of the listings I have found on Craigslist People trying to sell services or stuff and their descriptions are just great! http://centralmich.craigslist.org/pts/2127301107.html Would you trust this guy to work on the headlights on your car? ROD |
wow, just wow....what a spell-check noob!
|
wouldn't let anyone else touch my lights. $10 does seem very cheap though. He's probably doing one coat with the polish.
|
My headlights are good, and even if they weren't, this guy wouldn't be the one cleaning them.
|
I've seen:
your=you're (daily) they're=their=there no=know looser=loser prolly=probably alot = a lot breaks = brakes But tords = towards? Finally, there goes my hope for this country's future :( |
10 bucks is not that much; even if he polishes the headlight lenses, his labor and time are worth 10 bucks. He's not asking for the world. Obviously, he's doing it because he needs money; he's not stealing or robbing from people. There are much worse people out there who are actually committing crimes.
|
What do you expect from the ghetto of the internet? LOL

Plus, who cares how he spells? He isn't writing me an essay. He's polishing headlights. Do you care if your plumber knows the capital of the neighboring states? |

Agree with this.

Congratulations. I'm applying for law schools myself. I definitely don't think I can reach that high on the totem pole. |

Not that it matters, but I know a guy who is a diesel tech at a Ford dealership. Really rough around the edges. He chain smokes, he's covered in filth all the time and cant spell a word to save his life. Know what? That dude brings home a six figure pay every year. He's got 2 kids, his wife doesn't work and he lives in a $400.000 home. Just sayin'.....

We're not talking about competence here, we're talking about smart marketing. 1. He has the ability to get on the Internet if he posted on Craigslist. 2. His time is not worth very much if he's charging $10 per car. 3. Logic would follow that it would be a good investment of his time to Copy / Paste into a spellchecker (or just use the free checker on the Google toolbar). |

Really? Coming from Yale Law School, I would think you'd expect a modicum of professionalism while conducting any business, whether it be the advertising or service aspect. When someone offers something that sounds sketchy, it normally is.
Do I care that Chinese restaurants have a bunch of spelling and grammar mistakes? Nope. Funny, yes. Affects my decision, no. |

But this diesel tech isn't the one who approves advertising content for the Ford dealership, right?

Honestly, I've seen far worse on craigslist.

I agree. If you want professionalism then your not picking a ten dollar job found on Craiglist.
Well done. From a detailing point of view, it's pretty hard to charge more than that. Polishing headlights takes virtually no time at all and he's probably using a $20 Meguiars kit (with wool pad for a drill) that would let him do 50+ cars. Considering a lot of people would freak if they saw how little it took and he tried to charge more than that... |

He's just a guy doing this in his spare time. There's nothing really professional about it to begin with.

Where is Magician?

It's so awesome when people criticize the grammar/spelling of others and then screw it up themselves. Let's learn how to form complete sentences and punctuate correctly before we start making fun of others. It's a freaking ad for a service on Craigslist for $10...if you were expecting a well thought out and well articulated ad then I think the guy that placed the ad should probably be making fun of you instead.

Buncha grammar nazis!

If he's going to clear my clouded headlights for only
$10, I don't care how bad he spells! |

Minor errors vs the author's own interpretation of the English language? We all commit infractions and occassionally misdemeanors, but we all want murderers put away. All of these consistitute crimes, so are we hypocrites for thinking a murderer deserves his punishment when we curse the government and its employees for serving justice when we skew over the speed limit? Apples and oranges, buddy.

He means when he speeds it's an apple, but when headlight polishers misspell it's an orange.
